Divine Timing

I have been paying attention to Divine Timing this past month. The more I pay attention, the more I realize that we really are always in the exact right place at the right time. And I also realize the more I try to control time or my place in it, the more off I seem to be. When I go with the flow, it all flows perfectly.
Just the other day I was on my way to see an Ayurvedic doctor. I wasn’t exactly sure how to find his place of business and got lost. As I drove around trying to find the right address, I realized that time was ticking by. I was unable to call to say I would be late because I didn’t have the number. By the time I got to his place, I was 15 minutes late. Usually, when this happens, this would put me into a tizzy. Usually, you may find me saying the odd curse word, becoming stressed over making someone wait for me and being late. But this time, I just got the message that I would get there when I get there and it would all be perfect. It would have to be, because it was becoming quite obvious to me that I was not going to be remotely on time.

I apologized as I walked in the door and was greeted by his lovely assistant who just said, “Actually this is perfect timing.” Their previous client was just leaving. Hmm. It did work out perfectly.
Another day, I was traveling to the city to take my kids to school. I was planning on picking up the mail before getting to the city because I was expecting a package. In the morning busy-ness, I forgot and drove right by the mailboxes. I didn’t realize I had forgotten until I was already at the school. I picked up the mail on my way back and sure enough there was the delivery slip in the mail box. I would have to make another trip into the city to get it. At first I was disappointed and annoyed with myself for having to make an extra trip. Then, I shrugged my shoulders and decided to go back into town and get my package.

Inside the package were my new business cards. Since the post office was right near one of the stores that displays my cards, I decided to drop in and give the owner my new cards. To my surprise, when I walked in a good friend of mine from Regina was there. She asked me if I was going to the meditation event that night. It was the first I had heard of it, but did want to go. If I hadn’t “forgot” to stop at the mailbox before dropping my kids at school, I wouldn’t have ran into my friend. I wouldn’t have known about the meditation event, and I wouldn’t have experienced the fantastic time I did at that event. It was as if the whole meeting was orchestrated. This is how divine timing works.

Next time you think the timing is off, allow yourself to believe in the possibility that it is all working out in perfect order. You may be surprised by the synchronicities and opportunities that appear that wouldn’t have been able to if everything was going according to your plan. And remember, the divine plan is always working out for your best interests even if your ego thinks otherwise. Sometimes, it is just better to be a little late. Sometimes, it is to your benefit to have an unexpected detour in your agenda. Sometimes, being way off schedule will put you on a better course…if you allow it to be that way.

With love,
